Trinity High School Scholars’ Bowl Team competed in the Washburn University High-Q contest, placing first in the 2A category Saturday, December 3. The team also placed in the top 16 schools of all schools 1A thru 6A in Kansas to earn a place to participate in the television version to be taped in January at Washburn University in Topeka. The team consisting of seniors Allan Saylor and John Bird, junior Becca Braun, and sophomore Chelsea Brown competed in the oral questioning part of the test at Washburn University on Saturday, December 3. This part consisted of three sets of 20 toss up questions each worth 10 points; if answered correctly then the team was allowed to answer three or four bonus questions worth 5 or 10 points each. The total points accumulated were tallied amongst all the schools present at the competition. Schools from across Kansas were in participation. The top three of each classification were awarded trophies, and then the top scores, including all classes, were tallied for the right to return in January for taping for the televised version of High Q. This tournament will be a single elimination from the tapings on four Saturdays in January. The versions will be televised and the time will be made known at a later date. This is the second year that Trinity has participated in the High Q competition; Mrs. Ann Pfannenstiel and Mrs. Cheryl Wardlaw, coaches, accompanied the team.
