1932 - Karl E. Mundt elected President of the NFL

1938 - 1st Student Congress at national tournament

1938 - Karl E. Mundt elected to U.S. Congress

1941 - National speech tournament cancelled through 1946
due to World War II.

1941 - President Franklin D. Roosevelt urges NFL student congress
to continue enhancing democratic values through
its competition.

1941 - NFL national student congress continues competitions
through World War II after FDR’s encouragement

1948 - Karl E. Mundt elected to the U.S. Senate

The National Forensic League's proud history is largely due to the base of esteemed alumni. Prominent NFL alumni include President Lyndon B.
